The BID has approved 50% funding towards a asphalt surface with the intention of extending the life of the existing carriageway.

The new material is designed to penetrate through the existing voids in the asphalt surface and strengthen the asphalt and aggregate bond with the additional benefit of sealing the nano cracks within the surfacing matrix.

The purpose of this treatment is to extend the life of the existing surface and postpone the need to undertake costly resurfacing. The Reclamite asphalt rejuvenation process was recently determined as the largest carbon reducing process of all surface treatment options in a detailed independent survey commissioned by the Road Surface Treatments Association.

The process is an innovation in road surface treatment technology and is being used by many authorities and asset managers around the UK as a way to, extend the life of their surfacing assets and help maintenance budgets stretch further
